Production Description

● Shock absorption. The shock absorption of ductile iron is better than that of gray cast iron. The higher the spheroidization rate, the smaller the shock absorption. As the temperature rises, the shock absorption of gray cast iron decreases, but the effect on ductile iron is small.

● cutting performance. Ductile iron contains more graphite, which plays a role in cutting lubrication. Therefore, the cutting resistance of ductile iron is lower than that of steel, and the cutting speed is higher.

● Weldability. Ductile iron cannot be welded, only repaired by welding. When the content of rare earth magnesium alloy in ductile iron is high, it is easy to produce white mouth or martensitic structure to form internal stress and cracks in the area near the weld.

● Heat resistance. The graphite in ductile iron separates from each other, which hinders the diffusion of oxygen at high temperatures compared to grey cast iron. Therefore, the oxidation resistance and growth resistance of ductile iron are better than those of gray cast iron and malleable iron. The high temperature growth resistance of ferritic ductile iron is better than that of pearlitic ductile iron. Increasing the content of silicon or aluminum can improve the oxidation resistance and heat resistance of ductile iron.

● Corrosion resistance. Ductile iron and gray cast iron have good corrosion resistance in alkaline solution, and the corrosion resistance of ductile iron to organics, sulfides, and molten metals (low melting point) is similar to that of gray cast iron.

● Abrasion resistance. Ductile iron is a good wear-resistant and wear-reducing material, and its wear resistance is better than that of gray cast iron, carbon steel and even low-alloy steel with the same matrix.

● (1) Lubrication and wear resistance, the wear resistance of ductile iron is better than that of gray cast iron.

● (2) Abrasive wear, ductile iron also has certain applications under abrasive wear conditions. However, compared with white cast iron and low alloy steel, the wear resistance of ordinary ductile iron is not very good, only alloy ductile iron or alloy Bainite ductile iron has good wear resistance.
